The Birth Of ' Vanjara '

Hello friends, I think this post should’ve been the first one to be posted….
Ie. The Birth of VANJARA…. How the word Vanjara actually came in to the life of this blogger and how was he influenced by it…. Wont write much of theory, just take u straight to a practical approach…. Here You Go…

Vanjara

Duniya di bheed vich
labheya mainu ik guwacha,
bedol badan, haddiya da dhancha,
ik takk si vekh reha uh val mere,
akhan vich usdi lukke san ghup hanare.

Aakhda mainu,

Koi nai ajeha
jisnu jeyunda mai aakhda,
mar rahiya ne jindan,
le le maut da aasra.
Eh vekhde ne sab kuch,
par band ne akhan,
singurdiyan na ruhan,
jad chekhde ne lakhan,
dhup cha sab sehende ne,
par jaban ton si na kehende ne.

Kyu chup ho jad koi tuhadi ijjat hai lutda,

Aakhir kad tak is bheed vich
firda ravanga mai maara maara,
mai kudrat de sach da ik vanjara ,
mai kudrat de sach da ik vanjara...

BE-MBA@TIET – A Self Orientation….

FINALLY!!!
Yea.. FINALLY!!! The BE-MBA starts at the TIET on the 10th of August 2006 with a shagun 11 students…A historical date… The project underwent a saga of events, no less than any K-Soap dramas….
Won’t tell the events though coz that’d take one full blogspace…
Starting with my first class of the MBA.. it was an interesting experience.. Although, just any introductory class of a new semester in a new college… Remember that question of Munna bhai-MBBS “ Tum doc kyun bann na chahate ho” yee.. We were asked the same like Deepinder Bhai-MBA “Tum BE-MBA kyun karna chahate ho”
Then it was followed by introduction of the new staff members… ek se badkar ek item…
The first one was Mr.Apurva Bhakshi.. He started off.. “ Okay.. first of all let me congratulate u all ‘guys’ for making an intelligent decision…. “ I really felt like kicking his ass for using that word ‘guy’.. I wanted to ask him,” Sir what does guy mean??? Have u seen the meaning of the word guy in dictionary??”… BUT I WAS HELPLESS!!! Just solaced myself with a cunning smile on my face and a signal to kanwarjot.. par vo bhi dekh lia usne… “yes Sardarji.. any problem??? Aap kuch kehna chahate ho???” … kya kehta bechara sardar…

Another item was a lady (don’t remember the name).. her speaking accent as that like paramjeet kaur from bathinda… “Ai Cangratulaate you aaal foar tha aaadmission too thias couarse”… in the end meri halat yeh thi k ek shabad bhi aur bolti to ‘Ai woauld haave barst oat wath an uncontrolaed laughtaer….’

Anyways… the intro of rest was over… and Ravi Kiran Ma’am took a 15 mins lecture…
The worst part was that the class was held in a fan-equipped F-104, rather than the otherwise promised Air Conditioned R&D :(

Okay, the second part of my blog is a self orientation for myself…. This is the extract of speech that I delivered in the 1st yr. orientation prog. (Refer:-‘Five Minutes of Fame’)

“I feel that the most important step in any major accomplishment is setting a specific goal. This enables to keep your mind focused on your goal and off many obstacles that will arrive when you are striving to do your best.

You don’t need to be a ‘Krish’ or a ‘Superman’ to do certain things. You can just be an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated to reach challenging goals. And the foundation of the endeavor lies in realizing your basic ambition, because these are the years that have enough potential to make or break a life and that would differentiate you from any other person walking on the road

Here I’d like to tell u about a great warrior, a long while ago, who faced a situation, which made it necessary for him to make a decision which insured his success on the battlefield. He was about to send his army against a powerful foe whose men outnumbered his own. He loaded his soldiers into boats, sailed it to enemy’s country, unloaded soldiers and equipment, and gave order to burn the ships that had carried them. Addressing his men before the battle he said “ You see the ships going up in smoke… this means that we cannot leave these shores unless we win. W have no other option. We Win or We Perish.
They Won.

I’d like to end this with a few lines as said by Mark twain…
‘Twenty Years from now, you’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour, catch the trade winds in your sails, Explore, Dream, Discover.’”

Ik Naam Tera

Well this post is something out of the blue… I jumped over to writing this post coz of an incident written in Hardeep’s blog… when Mrs. Ravana(as named by Mr. Hardeep) was teaching us in 3rd semester and I was sitting on the last bench for a change…
The scene has already been well explained by hardeep, but I think I’ll violate the copyright and present it again…
It was the day when this lady wore a sarree… I’m sure she must have got a compliment from Mr.Duryodhana ki, “darling aj badi sexy lagg rahi hoo”… Well that sexy lady… I mean sanki lady entered our class and this was the scene…
Class: whistles…. Woooooooo….. pheeiiiiiii…. Ayyeee.e..e.e..e..
Ma’am with a deadly smile on the face and an errie silence as that of a grave yard stepped on the stage and without much of a reaction started teaching…. But nea.. WE ARE THE STUDENTS OD CSED AND ELECTRICAL…. The hooting continued… then ahhh…. I have taught in IIT.. (bla bla)…… lekin tum jaise bache mujhe pehli bar dikhe hai…” followed the lil bit of chit chat and hooting at the last benches…. Ma’am turns to board and suddenly turns back and delivers a dialogue…. “Tumhe dekh kar mujhe pata hia kiski yad ati hai????”..................????........................ “Kutte ki poocnch hoti hai na..….”
Fer ki si.. mittran ne shuru karr ditta MEAW MEAW… BOW BOW……
That was it… we weren’t in the class the next minute…
Well under all these state of affairs, I was penning down my first Punjabi poem…. Many of you might have read it already, still posting it again coz there are many said and unsaid memories related to it…. From the core of my heart (a hindi translation of the same follows for all those who have a hard time with punjabi)

“IK NAAM ‘TERA’”

Ik Chann Si main mangeya tera naa laike,
Ik supna si main buneya tera naa laike,
Ik naa tera hi mai is jind vich vasaeya si,
Enha badlan de vich ik hanju main lukaiya si...

Kithey firolan main ajj enha dil diyan baatan nu,

Sunehere us kall de vichere hoye jazbatan nu,
Jind Vinn ke meri jo bahaar le gaye,
Is laash utte charhe hoye jo har le gaye...

Chiikhdi is laash vall main murh murh vekhda haan,

ajj chadd challe assi eh jahaan sajna.

Kade enha ambran vichon ik awaaz jadd aayegi,

Sisakde dil di roun dilan de paar jad jayegi,
Koi karda e yaad mainu, mai jaan javanga,
Us din murh main tera naam lavanga,
Us din murh Main tera naam lavanga...

Ek Naam Tera(hindi)

Ek chaand tha maine manga tera naam leekar,
ek supna tha maina banaya tera naam lekar,
Ek naam tera hi maine is zindagi me basaya tha,
en baadlon ke beech me ek aansu maine chupaya tha

kahan dhundu main aaj dil ki baaton ko,

Sunehere us kall ke bichere hue jazbaton ko,
Zindagi Cheer ke meri jo bahaar le gaye,(vinn actually means to pierce)
Is laash k upar chare hue jo haar le gaye

chikhti hui is laash ki taraf main baar-baar deekhta hu,
aaj dil ke jazbaton ko akhron se main beechta hu,(akhar =alphabets)
Koi sunn le meri ye fariyaad sajna,
Aaj chorh chale hum ye jahaan sajna

Kabhi in ambron me se ek awaaz jabb ayegi,

sisakte dil ki roun dilo ke paar jabb jayegi,(sisak=to sob, roun= weep)
Koi karta hai yaad mujhe, main ye aan jaunga,
Us dinn dobara main tera naam lunga,
us dinn dobara main tera naam lunga...
